What do I need to do to become a volunteer at the Gozo Half Marathon?

To become a volunteer at the Gozo Half Marathon, you should fill in the volunteer registration form.

Until when can I submit the volunteer registration form for the Gozo Half Marathon?

The volunteer registration form is currently available. The closing date for registration is 7th April 2019.

Will I receive anything for completing voluntary hours at the Gozo Half Marathon event?

Yes, provided that you have participated on the day of the race and that your team leader has recorded your presence, you will be:

  • awarded a certificate. Approximately one month after the end of the event, you will be able to print out your participation certificate online.
  • Invited to join us at a yearly get together after the event (date to be advised soon) in which thank you tokens will be presented to all.
Moreover, All individual volunteers will be awarded points as per link below.
All Non-Profitable organizations will be given a donation for the association as per link below.

How does the point system work?

Points will be awarded to every voluntary opportunity. These points can be redeemed for prizes as indicated.

What happens if I don't show up on the day of the event?

Failure to show up on the day of the Race will create an irreplaceable void at the position to which you have been assigned, since no one will be able to replace you at that time. Moreover, no points will be awarded and subject to deduction. Please note that our team will be checking if everyone’s in place and on task through the event.

I cannot be there on the day of the Race. However, I want to help during the days before the Race, will I be able to do so?

Yes of course. Points will be awarded for the help given prior to event as well.

Can I be assigned at the same station with my friends?

Yes, provided that you request permission from one of our leaders upon registration, indicating also your preferred group. Kindly note that no adjustments will be completed after the registration closing date (7th April).,

Can I choose the position in which I will be assigned?

Unfortunately no. However, positions will be conveniently assigned to accommodate volunteers.

What are the possible jobs I might be doing?

How will I be informed about the position assigned on the actual day of the Marathon?

You will receive an e-mail with all relevant information and you will be approached by our team through other platforms.

How much time do I have to commit on the day of the event?

Preferably, volunteers are to be in their assigned positions before the race starts (races start at 8.30am) until the races finish (at around 11am).

Do I need to attend any training before participating in the event?

Yes. A brief meeting will be held in the week of the event. More details will be given further on.

Can I run one of the races and offer my services as a volunteer as well?

Yes, provided that your race is on the other day of the 2-day event i.e. If you are racing on Saturday you can only volunteer on Sunday and vice versa.

I have submitted a volunteer application form but something came up and I would like to cancel my participation. Do I need to inform someone and when?

You should definitely inform the Volunteering Program as soon as possible (no later than 3 days before the Race), so a replacement can be found.

What should I wear on the day of the event?

All volunteers must wear a black T-shirt and a bib given by the organization (which is to be returned after the race). It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
